Patrizi Moscato D'Asti 2005
Piemonte, Italy. 5.5% alcohol. Cork. Approx $A18.
The Wine Report 2007 by Tom Stevenson mentions that 2005 was not kind to Moscato - with widespread rot and a general lack of balance.
Moscato IS unbalanced. It is inherently sweet and fun. There is never any seriousness to counterbalance the simple pleasure. It is like the thrill you experience as an adult playing in a children's playground - innocent and delightful if you are in the mood - but too soon the interest and enjoyment fades and you need something else.
Pale, with a blush of fizz, before clearing. Fresh apple, faint cinnamon, and grape flesh. Sweet, crisp and crunchy in the mouth. After a few glasses the sweetness overwhelms.

Yes. Like 96 Champagne. At least something a bit older than the kiddies in the playground..

GW,
Being at the playground, with my 2 year old daughter gives me a rather weak excuse to use the swing, slide, and see saw!
