William Downie Mornington Peninsula Pinot noir 2006

Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. 13.5% alcohol. Diam. Approx $A40.

A lovely wine.

Pure and light in spirit, but with enough depth and complexity to please the most particular. Unforced, elegant and feminine. Liqueur cherry and spice before a lovely core of softness and brightness. The finish is lingering and silken.

I prefer this to the widely acclaimed and excellent 2005 Yarra Valley pinot.

Very good - excellent.
17.7/20 (93/100).
Drink now - 2012.

Good Good Eduardo. I bought six on spec and gave one to Lincoln. Not tried it yet. I like 2006 vintage as much as, if not more than, 2005 for Yarra pinot.

GW,

I look forward to your review. I think I will try the Yarra Valley example in the next few days. . .
