Breakfast in Kings Park

I don’t imagine there are too many places where you can have breakfast overlooking a sea of banksia and a pair of noisily mating kookaburra! Zamia Café (May Drive, Kings Park, Perth, Western Australia) is such a place.

I had the vegetarian breakfast ($A16), minus the egg and with a side order of bacon ($A3). The bacon was particularly good, but ultimately it is the ambiance of the place that is the feature. Relaxed, open and bright, the café overlooks the one of City’s most famed playgrounds, a place that most locals have etched in their memory.

Post script: After reading the findings of the A-Z weight loss study, published in JAMA, perhaps I should have skipped the toast and ordered the egg!

Post post script: I returned a week later to sample their 'full breakfast', which they call the Zamia Challenge.
