Chateau Guiot Costieres de Nimes 2004
Languedoc, France. Presumably Grenache with a touch of Shiraz. 13.5% alcohol. Cork. Approx $A22.
After a short though sharp winter, characterized by below average rain and above average rates of influenza, the first day of Spring finally arrived. The sun shone and there was a feeling of warmth in the air. My viola seem to be in unusually good condition, hence the photo. . .
Dark in colour, though with a bright and savoury nose. It is perfumed like a young tempranillo with rose petals and earth, though with time it becomes more sap, dark cherry and plum. Approachable and generous with an undercurrent of dried herbs, this is a wine of structure and texture. The tannins and fine and yet muscular, and the length is pleasing. Lovely, and very compelling value.
Very good.
16.9/20 (89/100).
Drink now - 2010.

By your own lofty standards Edward, that is one hell of a convention breaking bottle shot!
You'll be swamped with links to style & urban style blogs soon the rate you're going.
Via,
Thanks! I hope you are well.
It was a beautiful Spring day and I had been in the garden all afternoon pulling weeds, so a drop of wine seemed like a fair reward, and the viola looked so abundant. . .
