Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon Macon Milly Lamartine 'Clos du Four' 2004

Macon Villages, Burgundy, France. Chardonnay. 13% alcohol. Cork. Approx $A65

The Brooklyn guy, is hosting WBW#39. The theme is 'silver' Burgundy. This is my entry.

Enticing, compact and bold. Ripe and bountiful nose, with butter, nuts, grilled peach, pineapple and an undercurrent of struck match. Tight and zippy in the mouth, before becoming expansive and enveloping. The acid whispers river stone, sap and hardness and yet it is bound and mixed with a lovely creamy softness, which only serves to highlight both forces.

Very good - excellent.

Sounds like a good drink although I'm not sure about the struck match. This is one of the Macon wines of the Cote d'Or superstars I'm looking for (already drank the Leflaive Macon-Verze). Where did you buy it?

Maurice,

I got this from the Prince wine store, probably 4-5 months ago.
I did notice, today, whilst wandering around La Vigna - that they had another village (from the same producer and vintage) for about $55. Can't recall the exact name of the village though.

Thanks for the tip Ed, I'm currently in a white Burgundy mood. Good chance too to go to the Tamburri's again. BTW, love your postcards, they're gorgeous.

I've had the Macon-Chardonnay last Saturday, the one from La Vigna. Excellent wine, thanks for the tip Ed!
