Postcard: Beijing street food
For those phobic of these eight legged creatures, New Zealand is the place to be.
It's thought that Scorpions evolved in one place (in the Northern Hemisphere) and then spread throughout the world (like Humans out of Africa), though they were too slow to reach Aotearoa.
Still hungry? How about a cooked centipede on a stick. . .

I had a crack at these years ago in Laos. Quite tasty actually, best with a bucket of cold Beerlao stubbies.
Dave,
You're much braver than me, though I guess with enough beer they almost look like a small yabbie :)
Yes the beer is important...
At the time, I was in a job where I traveled from Pakistan to Japan and everywhere in between for 9 months of year.
Of course the locals guys would try to sort me out with something nasty on the first couple of visits. Steamed bird heads, snakes, eels, live fish, grasshoppers, steamed dog - you name it they tried it. Even tiger penis (which I refused on ethical grounds). The thing is some of them actually taste good!
Dave,
Sounds like you passed the various initiation tests!
Travel makes you realise how limited and conventional our Aussie food consumption is. Eating a rat stew was about the most adventurous thing I've had, it was actually pretty good, once you got past the yuck factor. . .
