Wantirna Estate Lily Pinot noir 2006
Yarra Valley, Victoria, Australia. Pinot noir. 14%. Diam. Approx $A65.
Correct and varietal nose, but the palate is diffuse and little too hot. A promising start, with stalk and stem, rose petal and strawberry. Broad and slightly sweet with cherry and a thin line of acid and tannin. In time there is better shape, but still it seems a size too large.
Very good.

I have had a few Pinots of late that nudge the 14% alc mark and few seem to carry it well. The Bass Phillip 21 seems perfectly ripe at 12.8%.....
