Jacob's Creek Riesling 2008

South Australia. Riesling. 12.5%. $A10.

Despite the bottle, this is every bit a riesling. It smells and tastes as it should and for only $10 it is quite convincing and surprisingly good. A pretty nose which reminds me most of an Eden Valley wine, with the usual triad of lime, blossom and talc. A transient spritzig adds to the sherbet like nature, but even without the bubbles this is appealing bright and crisp.

Very good.

Hi Edward,

Though I haven't had this in a few years, this use to be a favourite of mine while I was at uni. Back in those days it use to be about $6 and offered pretty decent drinking for a student on a budget...

Cheers
Andrew

If it didnt have a JC label on it ti would be sold for $15 a bottle and routinely praised.

Andrew and Andrew,

It's perhaps even better on the second night.

The last time I opened a bottle was in the late 90's, and as you say it could sell for more and get more kudos if it was not JC, of course I'm sure they would not sell nearly as many bottles. . .

I see the economy is moving your price range - well done! We have every other Jacob's creek bottling but not the Riesling...

Joe,

I'm surprised by how well behaved I've been. . .

Ed - it's not that hard, is it? Especially mid-week. It makes me look forward to the weekend and break out of the $10 bracket...
