Smelling like a bag of freshly opened dried apricots, with its whiff of sulphur and concentrated fruit, along with wax, bruised apple and the suggestion of slate. Enticing, direct and in a way predictable. A simple pleasure with it's emphasis on sweetness and intense, lingering acidity.
Very good.

I love German wine labels, and I would pay extra to walk out of a store with such a pretty bottle. Fortunately, I have found the pretty bottles usually have very pretty wine inside.
I think German wines are great - where else do you get such quality out of 'standard' bottles. Even when a wine is 'mediocre' by German standards, it still outclasses many wines from other places.
Joe and Shea,
One of the most pleasing things is seeing these wines under alternate, non cork seals (screwcap and glass stoppers). . . I'm very fond of them, especially as starters and lunch time wines. . .
Ed, the last thing I need are "lunch time wines"...funny, I don't see the glass stoppers here (I will admit I buy German wine infrequently)
