Mitchelton Botrytis Riesling 2008

Blackwood Park, Central Victoria, Australia. Riesling. 12.5%. Screwcap. Approx $A16

This is like opening a tin of apricot nectar. It's rich, sugar laden and stuffed with the scent and taste of apricots. Beyond this there is candied ginger and honeycomb and in the mouth there twist of citrus pith and marmalade. A little too short and simple for higher points.

Very good.

Nice description - I was going to say Botrytis Riesling from Australia sounds interesting. After your note I think I'll stay away ;).

Shea,

I'm going through a bit of a sticky phase at present. Good thing I don't have diabetes! The smell and taste are pleasing, just needs a bit more acid and complexity.

Tim,

I think I was a little harsh on this and too generous with the Trentham Taminga. The 06 Noble one and the Brown Brothers Patricia are the next two stickies on my list. . .

... 06 noble one for me as well, which was unlucky not to get on my desert island list cos' the mcwill was so freaking sexy!!

Tim,

I read your desert island post and have been thinking about my list for the last few days. Still no closer to a final list!
