Yalumba Wild Ferment Chardonnay 2007

Eden Valley, South Australia. Chardonnay. 13.5%. Screwcap. Approx $A15.

Flint and sulphur, butterscotch and melon along with a slight prickle and more than a hint of hay. Plenty of texture in the mouth, I'm reminded of a slice of pineapple coated in marzipan. It's very effective and for its price, very rewarding.

Very good.

Totally agree Edward, especially with your drinking window.

I tend to categorise the wines in my cellar in a very ordered fashion (I have a book!) which includes a drinking window - my decision for this wine; 2011+!

I wasn't as impressed with the 08 though, any opinions yourself?

(trippy photo by the way;)

Cheers,
Chris P

Chris,

I should follow your lead and try to get more organised. . . I tend to drink what I can reach :) Though there is some rhyme to me reason, as I tend to put the long term stuff at the back of my wine cabinet so it is hard to find. . .

Have not tried the 08, but will get to it in due course.

another cool photo!

soon you'll have just as many photographers following as wine buffs.

what camera do you shoot with? i've just finished a photography course, so I'm starting to appreciate just how much work goes into a great photo like this one

Thanks!

Got to confess, it is taken with my webcam built into the apple mac, though most other photos are taken with a aging point and click Canon. I keep procrastinating about buying a 'proper' camera so I came try to emulate the really serious bloggers like Matt of Abstract Gourmet or Max of AceHighWines and Dave of Tintoyblanco.
